LORETTA DIANA, GOFFREDO HAUS, MAURIZIO LONGARIModeling and Management of Large Music DatabasesAbstractThis article describes the architectural model of a system for large music database management. The model is based upon concepts and research efforts entirely developed at Laboratorio di Informatica Musicale (LIM). The main functionalities of MAIS are music database management and content data navigation. Database manage-ment allows the consultation of structured and unstructured multimedia information. Structured information is retrieved by traditional queries. Unstructured information is retrieved by non-traditional queries such as humming or playing of a melody (content queries).
