SKRTZZ PEN

A Max/MSP/Jitter patch that transforms the well-known Wacom pad and a pen into a perfect audiovisual scratch tool

For years, Eboman is doing research on the use of interactive image and sound in live performances. His passion for scratching pushed him to develop the "skrtZz pen".

This pen is a Max/MSP/Jitter patch that transforms the well-known Wacom pad and a pen into a perfect audiovisual scratch tool. It's surprising on what high level scratching is possible by using this interface ; for the first time, the digital scratcher has the same status in the (analogue) vinyl scratch scene. The big difference is that the digital scratcher is scratching image and sound and that he can add all kinds of effects and digital tricks to his scratch skills. Moreover, he is able to change very quickly samples and, besides pitch and volume, he can manipulate 5 other (ascribable) parameters with just one move (also by using pressure intensity, the angle of the pen with the x and y surface). This makes it possible to create more complex scratches.

During his presentation Eboman will use an intuos2 pad ; this one allows the display of scratch material on the scratch platform offering the possibility to generate even more "tied" scratches.
