Roland CahenComposer, stage director, teacher Roland Cahen is born in Paris in 1958. He is member of the Radio France music workshops (1975-1979). He studies with Pierre Schaeffer at the National Conservatory of Paris (1977-1980). Studies and practice Theatre. He creates Espace Musical (1981) and produces electroacoustic music concerts. Much involved in electroacoustic musical theatre "Theatrophone" as author, director, composer and performer : Le Langage des oiseaux (1980), Tutti Média (1989), Tonmeister Orpheus (1994)... He composes electroacoustic concert music such as Murs et Murmures (1st mention in Bourges 1988), Le Complexe du Simple (Mention in Bourges 1994), tape drama works, music for stage (theatre, ballet...), for films (Apesanteurs... 99) and creates interactiv situations such as Virtual Reality (Icare Icarus 1997/2000), MandalaElectronique 1996 at the CICV Pierre SCHAEFFER. He participates regularly to the activities of the Studio Delta P of La Rochelle. As a teacher, Roland Cahen creates with Pierre Boeswillwald the "Département de Musique Électroacoustique d'Amiens (France Somme)" and teaches there from 1981 to 1994. He creates in 1993 a studio in Montbéliard and teaches electroacoustic music there. He runs the New Music Forum of the International Festival of University Music (FIMU). From 1995 to 1998, he teaches also in Lille University (CFMI) to future music animators. He creates the Association Théâtrophone (sound in theatre and theatre in sound). From 1993 to 1997, he is music critic for the Nov'Art magazine. Member of ART3000. Member of the "Réunion pour la Promotion et l'Enseignement de la musique électroacoustique" (CIME-UNESCO). Roland Cahen teaches now sound art and sound design at the National School of Industrial Creation (ENSCI - Les Ateliers. Working with Ircam as a creator and developer for music teaching applications commissioned by the Ministère de l'Education Nationale.
