Marc Battier

Composer. Professor at the University of Paris-IV Sorbonne

Composer. Born in France. Has been composing computer music for over 30 years (live and tape). His latest CD, Nine pieces on works by Matta, with poems by Zeno Bieanu, will be released in the Fall of 2003. Space art : Collaborates with Richard Clar's Collision II Orbital Debris Sculpture which will be shown in Paris, Fall 2003.

Author : latest book, compiled with Marcelo Wanderley : Trends in Gestural Control of Music, Ircam, electronic book, 800 pages, 2000. Numerous articles on electronic and computer music. As Vice-President of Electronic Music Foundation, works on a series of electronic books, Genesis of Synthesis. First issue : The Buchla Electronic Box, the San Francisco Electronic Music Center and the Mills Tape Center.

Researcher : Ongoing research on history of electrical and electronic musical instruments, past of audio technology, interaction with other arts, use of audio in literature and poetry, development of electronic and computer music, analysis methods for electronic music.

Has been working with Leonardo and Leonardo Music Journal. Currently President of the International advisory board of OLATS (Observatoire LEONARDO des Arts et Technosciences).

As Professor at the University of Paris Sorbonne, heads the MINT research group (Musicologie, Informatique et Nouvelles Technologies).
