David Crombie

Head of International Projects FNB, Amsterdam

Following extensive policy research in the UK health sector, his career has focused on enhancing accessibility for print impaired people in a European context.

Since 1996, he has worked on many music related projects and has collaborated with most of the major European organisations and individuals in this field. Several of these projects have been funded by the European Commission. The CANTATE project was the first to examine in detail aspects of music notation and was followed by the HARMONICA accompanying action on Music Information in Libraries. HARMONICA aimed to provide a solid strategic framework for networked access to music and related multimedia services. He co-ordinated the MIRACLE project to build a worldwide on-line library of music in alternative formats and has pioneered the development of Talking Music using navigable DAISY formats and innovative object oriented music modelling. He was responsible for the accessibility components of the WEDELMUSIC project and the MUSIC NETWORK project.

Currently involved in several initiatives relating to intelligence representation, information modelling and redefining accessibility.
