Maurizio LongariPhD Student, University of Milan, Italy Since January 2000, Maurizio Longari is Phd student at Universitá Degli Studi di Milano, Dipartimento di Informatica e Comunicazione. He is currently in the process of finishing his thesis titled : "XML Application for the Encoding of Time-Based Multilayered Musical Information". Since September 2001, he is member of IEEE SA Working Group on Music Application of XML. He received Master Degree in "Scienze dell'Informazione", Milan University, in March 1998 at LIM (Laboratorio di Informatica Musicale) with a thesis titled : "Integration of digital audio, MIDI and NIFF code in an SMDL/HyTime environment". Research interests : Computer Music, Symbolic Musical Representation, web/music applications, Multimedia Database.
