One, chamber opera for soprano, video and soundtrack

Music, text and video : Michel Van Der Aa
Soprano : Barbara Hannigan

One - Barbara Hannigan, soprano - 17 ko
One - Barbara Hannigan, soprano
(Co Broerse, photographer)

Barbara Hannigan's theatrical performance is based on a close dialogue that she's having during the whole piece with the false identity sent back to her by the video image and the small time-lag of her own recorded voice. Also on the screen, five women are telling about the same and essential event of her lives in which the main protagonist (played by the singer) played the key role. Little by little the relationship between the young woman and those wrinkled memories is revealed ; one can see a penetrating portrait of a woman that left herself.

Production : Fondation Gaudeamus.
Co-production Ircam-Centre Pompidou, Festival d'Automne (Paris) and Les Spectacles vivants-Centre Pompidou.
