Marilyn Nonken

Pianist

Pianist Marilyn Nonken has been presented at New York venues including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, Miller Theatre, and the Guggenheim Museum. Composers who have written for her include Milton Babbitt, Mario Davidovsky, Chris Dench, Jason Eckardt, Michael Finnissy, Tristan Murail, and Paul Nauert. Ms. Nonken, a co-founder and director of Ensemble 21, has also performed with ensembles including the Group for Contemporary Music, and The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Last season, she gave acclaimed performances of the complete solo piano music of Arnold Schoenberg and Pierre Boulez.
This season, she toured with Murail's complete piano works (forthcoming Metier release), Morton Feldman's Triadic Memories, (forthcoming Mode release), and a program of works written for her throughout the United States and Canada.
In 2003-04, she will perform in France, England, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Italy, Australia, and throughout the United States. She has recorded for New World Records, CRI, Koch International Classics, and Lovely Music.

Ms. Nonken, who studied at the Eastman School and received a Ph.D. in musicology/theory from Columbia University, is the guest editor of "Performers on Performance", a recent issue of Contemporary Music Review.
