Jean-Jacques NattiezProfessor of musicology, University of Montreal Jean-Jacques Nattiez is Professor of musicology in the Faculty of music of the University of Montreal. Regarded as a pioneer of musical semiology, his field of research includes the problems of musical analysis, Wagner's work, Boulez's thinking, the relations between music and literature, and, among the non-traditional musical expressions, the Inuit music (Canada), Ainou (Japan), Tchouktchi (Siberie) and Baganda (Uganda). He is the author of about ten works (translated into English, Italian and Japanese), approximately 200 articles and ethnomusicological recordings. He received twice the Recording International Award and he was invited as a lecturer or professor in several countries, including at the College of France in Paris.
